About Me

Dr. Erick Ogello is a scholar and research scientist currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Fisheries and Natural Resources, Maseno University, Kenya. Dr. Ogello has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Fisheries Science from Nagasaki University Japan. He obtained Master of Science Degree in Aquaculture (Great Distinction) in 2013 at Ghent University, Belgium, and Bachelor of Science Degree in Fisheries (First Class Honors) at Moi University, Kenya. Dr. Ogello has specialized training in Sustainable Aquaculture Development (Wageningen University, The Netherlands), Aquaculture Production and Management (University of Jerusalem, Israel) and Streams and River Ecology (Linchoping University, Sweden).
Dr. Ogello has previously worked as research scientist at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for 10 years, where he served as Director for Kegati and Sangoro Aquaculture Research Centers, His research interests include; Fisheries Science, Aquaculture production (biofloc technology for live food, larviculture and grow-out fish production and Fish Nutrition). Dr. Ogello is currently running Climate smart fish culture systems project funded by Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP), and Artemia production for sustainable coastal aquaculture (funded by Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA). Dr. Ogello has published over 60 scholarly articles in peer reviewed international journals, and participated in several local and international scientific conferences. Dr. Ogello is a member of Eastern African Water Association (EAWA) and Aquaculture Association of Kenya.
